In this video we talk specifically about Keto For Women (over 40) and a 5 step dietary plan for them.
If you are a woman over 40, looking to go Keto then I urge you to start slow.
The reason being that Keto is a lifestyle change (which doesnโt happen overnight). It is not just another FAD diet that you try hardcore for 4 weeks & boom transform into a Kardashianโฆ na aaahโฆ Iโm sorry to burst your wishful thinking bubble but thatโs not how it works.
Also, as women our bodies work on a 28 day hormonal cycle or pre-menopausal or menopausal. So thereโs a lot going on compared to a male life-long 1 day hormone cycle. This means that taking drastic measures may cause some sort of imbalance which we definitely want to avoid.
You see, Keto for women over 40 is mainly about improving our hormonal imbalance & healing our damaged cells so that, we can protect our bodies from age related illnesses, extensive weight gain and loss of energy/sleep.
So first off, if you are just starting on the Keto journey (as a woman over 40) then experts suggest that instead of going hardcore from day 1 that is going cold turkey on all carbs and sugar, start slow.
Follow the 5 steps shared in the video.
Then start looking into your macro-nutrients ratios. That is your meals should now consist of say 70-75% fat, 15-20% protein and 5-10% carbs.
Now some women over 40 can reach ketosis eating upto 50gm of carbs a day & some with lower metabolism may struggle to get in ketosis or even shift weight until they reduce it down to just 20gm a day. Again, you can gradually try this. Start with 50gm a day & if that isnโt working, lower it to 40, 30 & then 20gm a a day.
As for the dietary health fat amount. For women over 40, just starting their Keto journey, the recommended fat intake is between 20gm to 40gm of fat per meal (depending how active or sedentary your lifestyle is).
You see, the fats will allow you to go for longer periods of time without feeling hungry and it wonโt spike your insulin. A positive double whammy for sure.
